BASIS International Schools

BASIS International School Bangkok opened in August 2019 with Grades Prek-5th, and will expand each year to eventually include grades PreK through 12. The campus is one of the most state-of-the- art campuses in the BASIS Curriculum Schools network. Sitting on 22 Rai of land, the campus is comprised of 5 buildings with 25,000 sqm of learning spaces, 12 rai of sports fields, 2 heated pools, an outdoor Amphi-lawn, a separate entry for Kindergarten, an orchard and pond with over 35 different species of trees and plants from the region, dedicated music rooms, art studios, and a dance studio, a professional grade black-box theater, an engineering/design kitchen, an entire building for Science labs, and a coffee shop for our parents and staff.

The school is located just across the river from the Central Business District in the growing suburb of Rama 2. The campus is far enough away to avoid the city congestion and traffic, but close enough to be able to enjoy the multi- cultural experiences that the city has to offer. Teacher housing is within walking distance to the school and offers comfortable, modern living with easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Thailand is a tropical paradise, and Bangkok in particular, offers unlimited opportunities for exploration. Ancient temples are tucked into tiny side streets within a cosmopolitan city where one can find anything the heart desires. The Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) makes getting around the city very easy and safe. Newcomers experience a melding of cultures. An interfusion of foods from around the world, unlimited places to visit and explore, and secrets waiting to be uncovered. In truth, Bangkok is a perfect home-base for travel around all of east Asia. Travelers can visit Krabi, Ko Phi Phi and Hua Hin in just a few hours. In addition, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia are easy to reach from Bangkok and offer their own rich cultural experiences.

The second BASIS International School in China, BASIS International School Guangzhou, opened in 2017 with almost 400 students in Kindergarten through grade 9. The school is now near capacity with over 1,100 students. It is also the first BASIS International School to offer a weekday boarding program. Recent academic successes include winning the global round of the National Economics Challenge in 2019, where our students triumphed over teams from other top performing schools in the U.S. and around the world. In 2021, BASIS International School Guangzhou celebrated their first graduating class, with graduates achieving a 93% acceptance rate to Top 50 universities, including Oxford University. The school also offers state-of-the-art classrooms, outdoor activity space for soccer and track, two basketball courts, indoor playground, library, Apple computer lab, theater, cafeteria, and boarding facilities for more than 450 students.

Set in The Science City suburb of Guangzhou, the campus offers a friendly atmosphere just outside one of China’s largest cities, with access to numerous restaurants, shopping complexes, and historic sites. Teachers have enjoyed the family friendly location with nearby parks, hiking trails, ample green space, without the congestion typical of a major city.

BASIS International School Hangzhou, opened in 2018 with more than 400 students enrolled in Kindergarten—grade 9, has grown to over 1,100 students in grades Pre-K through grade 12. The campus is purpose-built, with buildings designed to meet the specific needs for early learning, primary, and secondary. The facilities include gymnasiums, computer lab, cafeteria, outdoor track and field, and a black-box theater that can open into an outdoor amphitheater.

Hangzhou is regarded by many as China’s most beautiful city. It boasts an incredible history, the scenic West Lake and Qiangtang River, and enjoys all four seasons. The school is located in the Qiangjiang New Town District of Hangzhou—differentiated between modern city development and areas of natural beauty and historical significance. Teacher accommodations are located in new apartment buildings, some in close proximity to the school, and offer convenient access to shopping and restaurants. A high-speed train near the school also offers service to Shanghai in an hour.

Overlooking the South China Sea’s Xiaojing Bay, BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour is nestled in the hills of a master-planned beach community within the municipality of Huizhou. The campus opened in 2018 to students in grades 5–9, and has expanded to offer courses through grade 12. Park Lane Harbour is the second BASIS International School to offer boarding. The total boarding capacity is 800, while the total student capacity is 1,200.

This serene campus has excellent facilities, including state-of-the-art classrooms, a soccer field and track, gymnasium, basketball and tennis courts, indoor heated swimming pool, expansive library, Apple computer lab, cafeteria, black-box theater, auditorium, and student boarding facilities. BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour is close to the beach, restaurants, and coffee shops. The area offers numerous outdoor activities, including beautiful bike and hiking trails, sailing, paddle-boarding, jet-skiing, and swimming. It also offers easy access to the cities of Huizhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

In 2015, our campus in Shenzhen was the first BASIS International School to open its doors in China. Starting out with more than 400 students in PreK—grade 10, it has currently grown to over 1,500 students in PreK—grade 12 and has numerous waitlists. This phenomenal success was recognized as the largest first-year opening of any international school in the history of southern China. In 2023, the school moved to a new, purpose-built campus with greater capacity, and additional facilities to further accommodate our growth for over 1,600 students.

BASIS International School Shenzhen has enjoyed a number of academic and athletic successes in its first eight years. More than two dozen students qualified for the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in the past three years, and several teams have advanced to its Yale University rounds. The school’s AP pass rate also surpasses the U.S. national average in more than ten subject areas. 2019 saw the first full graduating class of students, with graduates admitted into numerous top universities. The class of 2023 achieved a nearly 100% acceptance rate into top 50 United States universities, with 87% accepted into top 30 programs.

Opened in fall 2019, our school in Nanjing serves students in PreK–grade 12, and celebrated its first graduating class in 2023. The school’s facilities include top-of-the-line classrooms, outdoor sports facilities for activities including track and field, soccer, tennis, and basketball, heated indoor swimming pool, auditorium, Apple computer lab, cafeteria, and multipurpose activity center.

Nanjing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. The school’s campus is located in Nanjing’s Xianlin University Town in the Qixia District—home to Qixia Mountain, numerous historical sites, a vibrant arts community, museums, and beautiful scenery along the banks of the Yangtze River.

BASIS Bilingual School Shenzhen is our first bilingual school in China. The campus opened in September 2020 in Shenzhen’s Futian District for Pre-Kindergarten to grade 5 students. In 2021 the school expanded to offer middle-school grades, and will eventually offer courses through grade 12.

The state-of-art classrooms, multi-activity space and office facilities expanded in 2021 to include a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, 200-meter track and soccer field, Apple computer lab, theater, and additional classrooms.

BASIS Bilingual School Shenzhen combines the core of the BASIS School Curriculum with much of the language, history, culture, and values of the traditional Chinese curriculum. Our multi-national team of teachers work alongside each other to build an environment where students and faculty thrive.

Opened in fall 2022, BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu serves students in Grades Pre-K through 10, and will eventually expand to offer courses through Grade 12, with a capacity of over 1,800 students. This campus is our first to house both an international and bilingual curricula in one location. The school’s facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms, cafeteria, library, gymnasium, science labs, and plenty of outdoor space.

Chengdu is the capitol of Sichuan province—home to famous historic sites, cuisine, and culture. About 1,300 years ago, Li Bai, the greatest poet in the Tang dynasty described Chengdu as a prosperous, peaceful, and beautiful place in one of his famous poems. This certainly remains true today, as Chengdu has consistently been considered as one of the happiest cities in China, and one of the world’s 15 Happiest Places by the CNN Travel Channel.

Our school is located in the new Bio-Tech area of Chengdu, southwest of the city. Convenient to the Chengdu airport, the master-planned community will include plenty of green space, having an environmentally friendly design as a driving focus. Chengdu also has the largest hospital in China, easy shopping in neighborhood markets, and also the Chengdu Global Center—the world’s largest stand-alone building, approximately the size of 20 Sydney Opera Houses or 8 Beijing Olympic Stadiums, that all help with expat-friendly living.

BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Wuhan opened in September 2023. Our first campus in Hubei province, faculty and students enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, including spacious classrooms, gymnasiums, multiple performance spaces, science labs, a swimming pool, student dorms, and much more. The school currently serves students in Grades Pre-K through 9, and will grow to become a Pre-K – Grade 12 school.

Opened in the fall of 2024, BASIS Bilingual School Guangming Shenzhen is our second bilingual campus in Shenzhen. The Guangming District in Shenzhen is a perfect place for educators looking to make a meaningful impact on motivated students. With its vibrant mix of cultural diversity and modernity, this district offers a unique teaching experience in one of China’s most dynamic cities.

BASIS Bilingual Kindergarten Nanshan opened in fall of 2024 and became our first campus focusing exclusively on Early Childhood Education. The campus includes classrooms tailored to the needs of young learners, play spaces, and more. After a complete and stunning transformation, BASIS Bilingual Kindergarten Nanshan inhabits the founding BASIS International School Shenzhen location in the expat-friendly Shekou neighborhood. The outstanding educational outcomes that have been achieved in this location already will continue as we blend the Chinese national curriculum with the BASIS Curriculum to excite young students and build a solid foundation for future study.

Our second campus dedicated exclusively to Early Childhood Education opened in the fall of 2024 in Shenzhen’s Futian District. BASIS Bilingual Kindergarten Futian focuses on bilingual early learning, while adhering to our joyful learning culture and ensuring every student receives a solid foundation to carry them into future BASIS education.
